Samuel Steel - Figurative Sculptor
My work is essentially an investigation into the human form in sculpture, in which I’m focussing equally on the aesthetic and the anatomical. Through my investigations and studio practice I have gained an understanding of those two crucial elements. The driving force behind my work is a passion for the human figure that stems from an early exposure to work of great Renaissance masters when I was growing up. I have always been fascinated by the human body within art and indeed out of it so I’m confident it will always be a prominent feature within my work. Through constant practice I hope that I will develop a profound understanding of ‘The Human’ both physically and anatomically, this in turn should help me to express the seductive, subtle and expressive nature of both the human body and the human mind.
