Katie Pyment - Technical Artist and Fabricator
My passion lies in the realm of the fantastical, the outlandish. I have been introduced to a huge range of materials over the past three years and I’m keen to explore what I’ve learnt from them, and keep building on this knowledge. I’ve learnt the value of experimentation. I have developed a keen interest in the interactive: the environment, the character or the props. I have been working at various venues around London setting up 3D decorative environments for musical events and am looking forward to continuing this. I wish to combine this with fabrication, costume making and promotions to create exciting places and characters: I love the reaction a stilt walker gets as they tower over their audience and become part of the story or the impact one body can have on people when inside an incredible costume. I will continue fabricating and am keen to keep using new materials and adding to my understanding of how costumes are made and designs realised. I hope one day to work with a carnival band, to make the huge costumes that allow the dancers to take their audiences breath away!
