From as early as I can remember I have been infatuated with television and the silver screen. This infatuation infused with my love for visual story telling and vibrant imagination has been my main driving force into production design. By studying at Wimbledon for the last three years I have had the opportunity to gain and develop a good understanding in the studio based practices for production design, e.g. (Drafting, concept sketching, model making and story boarding) which in hand have led to me obtaining a good overall understanding of the day-to-day running of an art department. In addition, to complement the course I took on any work experience within the industry when possible.
An experience I truly enjoyed was at the beginning of my final year, where my last major project came about through a production designer named Byron B (who I had worked for in the past as an art department assistant). He recommended me to Ben E. whom I then worked for as a production designer for a short film he was producing and directing called Space Rider. The film is a gritty sci-fi drama that could best be described as a mix of television series Smallville, Supernatural and a little bit of the film Scum. This was a big asset in gaining a better understanding of working in the industry, in terms of set building, dressing, prop making and prop hiring. It has also given me a greater insight into the way in which all the departments on a set i.e. (lights, art and film) have to work together.
Specific Skills: Prop making, Set dressing and production design.
