Victoria Marr - Production designer
The art of transforming any given space into another world is a powerful tool; a form of expression I hope to develop on for the rest of my career. The most fantastic thing about Design for Performance is the range of mediums and skills it incorporates: from art to architecture. Throughout this degree, I have been able to specialise specifically on the importance of the technical side of theatre design and the process needed before a space can evolve into a final production. I have used my final project to show how a library can transform from a working building into a site specific performance space.

Working with an architectural practice, I have architecturally surveyed and technically drawn in 2D using autoCAD. I developed this into an architectural 1:100 scale model and then used my understanding of the space to adapt a children’s book into a performance to could be set in this library. It has enabled me to focus on my passions for site specific performance and childrens theatre and theatre spaces as well as drawing on my skills of storyboarding, puppetry, costume design and scenographic model making.
