Sophie Goldthorpe - Theatre Designer
A lifetime of observation of the world and of people has born fruit in this course. I like a multiplicity of theatrical styles and events. Over the last three years I have watched my work develop in style and technique and I am excited by projects which could push forward this evolution. Drawing has greatly influenced my work. I feel if you address the challenge of anatomy drawing you will have strong foundations for costume drawings, which leads on to an understanding of the space and forms which people inhabit. This significantly informs set design. Theatre design is an art of which involves many other arts: architecture, fine art, literature. What I find most interesting is gathering together all the right fragments, and with careful perception creating something both exciting and illuminating. Overall I am open to any creative venture. I feel confident in the skills gained during these past three years at Wimbledon College of Art and I relish the opportunity to be challenged.
Specific Skills: Costume Realisation, Set Dressing, Model Making, Storyboard Art and Technical Drawing.
