Julia Perkin - Prop and detail maker, set dresser.
I live in the vibrant and frenzied city of London where I have lived my whole life, currently finishing a 4 year theatre design course at Wimbledon College of Art. My inspiration draws from certain nostalgic and lethargic imagery; beautiful, delicate, and exquisitely empathetic and subtlety meaningful. To me as an artist I am constantly inspired by artists such as Amadeo Modigliani and Gustav Klimt, to vintage ’shabby-chic’ interior designers to exclusive fashion photo-shoots. I have always been devoted to fairytale and celestial imagery, regardless whether earthly, religious or mythical. As a cellist and musician, from early years my love for all genres of music has always played a great part in my many processes. Since visiting Bologna, Italy, for 4 months on the Erasmus Student Exchange Scheme I have not only discovered a passion for travelling but a love for all things of Italian culture. Through this experience and various other travelling I’ve felt wholly encouraged to continue this interest and observe other ethnicities, cultures and languages.
Specific Skills: fine art, set design and Model-making, interior design, costume design and making, textiles, prop design and making, lighting design, and photography.
