I remember owning a videotape of a Russian ballet of ‘Swan Lake’ when I was tiny and finding the lives of these strange feathered creatures in their world of sumptuous hues the most enchanting notion imaginable. I wanted to exist as Odette and Odelia did in that creation of plumped up velvet frocks, crystals and expanse of undiscovered horizons. Frustrated that everything in nature could not be as jewel encrusted, colour enhanced and intricate as the enrapture captured in their world, I suppose I stumbled into creating my own.
