Design for Performance students work collaboratively with leading professional directors, choreographers, designers, animators and theatre/performance artists.
Together they devise productions here in the college’s theatre, in alternative spaces, or speculatively through models, drawings and multi-media communication.
Throughout the course, study visits and placements support the student’s positioning of their future practice in the workplace.
Course initiatives continually encourage and actively support networking of all kinds between students and professional practitioners, like minded theatre courses and the next generation of theatre makers across the world.
This year has been no exception. The designers have made collaborative work with choreographers and dancers from London Contemporary Dance School, MA directors from E15 acting School and performers from other courses and sources.
They have made a number of both live action and animated films either integrated into live events or as works in their own right.
Site-specific performance is a growing part of the theatre field. Wimbledon designers continue to show a sophisticated understanding of the genre and look ahead to being amongst the next generation of artists at work in this exciting and evolving art form.
This year could prove to be a vintage year and we look forward to seeing the future of visual theatre making… now.
