The students and staff of the Costume Interpretation Course warmly welcome you to the 2008 Graduate Exhibition. Costume Interpretation as a subject area was developed to provide for students who were passionate about costume and the ambition to work with it as a professional practice. This course developed to meet those aims and undergoes a process of continual self-review, to reflect the changing needs of students and professional costume work.
There have been a variety of different costume projects this year including costumes designed by Alison Chitty or Anthony Ward, designs selected from the Jocelyn Herbert Archive, historical costumes worked from paintings or photographs and finally a self-directed piece chosen from a broad range of sources. This group of graduating students have much to offer not only with their skills and use of materials but in their willingness to learn. Their tutors wish them every success and recommend them to you.
