Sarah Godwin - Costume Designer
I’m interested in costume because I’m interested in people. A persons clothes offers us an introduction to their character and numerous clues as to who, why, when and where they are before they’ve even spoken.

I really recognise the importance of industry experience as there is no better way to learn than on the job and I really enjoy working as part of a creative team to see a production realised.

I have experience in both theatre and film:

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (2008)

ICA; Foolish Peoples’ ‘Dead Language’ (Oct 2007)

Soho Theatre; Philip Ridley’s ‘Leaves of Glass’ (May 2007)

Glasshouse Theatre; Mike Chase’s ‘Peer Gynt’ (2005)

I’ve worked in the following roles: Designer, supervisor, wardrobe assistant, buying/ sourcing, dressing, making & alterations, breakdown, dressing/ costume maintenance on set, fitting, and of course washing, ironing and tea making.

I’m primarily interested in working in theatre and film, though I’d be keen to gain more experience in all areas of the costume industry.

Specific Skills: Concept creation, character analysis, illustration, print and dye, breakdown, body padding, sewing, basic millinery, wirework, fabric/ garment sourcing, budget management, time management, costing, full UK driving Licence.
