Morag Hood - Costume Designer
Costume Design encompasses so much of what I am passionate about: theatre, film, words, people, images and ideas. I enjoy exploring the possibilities of costume through developing concept and character in a collaboration, working as part of a team to realise what began as simply an assortment of ideas. Costume design is a communication tool, able to establish a world, a character or to express a conceptual idea. I find the process of working from any stimulus, be that a text, an idea or a movement, both exciting and challenging. For me it is about creating the right balance between the real and the more fantastical to convey a totally believable world to the audience. My interest in people, along with a desire to understand their motivations, beliefs and point of view influences my work whilst also making me an effective team player. I enjoy the problem-solving element of costume; and my ability to realise complex designs, along with experience as a costume maker and wardrobe mistress, ensures that all of my designs are thoroughly thought through both practically and conceptually. I look forward to developing my skills further by contributing creatively to the industry.
