Ludivine Morel-Cibaly - Costume Designer
Most of my work is influenced by a fantasy world where abstract sensual beings abide. Interesting textures and color should combine to create forms that draw one into the idea or character being represented. I particularly enjoy the image of wings on a human body. I like the sensuality that wings can convey and also that they can suggest power. I am fascinated by the psychology of dress. Each period suggest different feelings. I find also inspiration in my travels and in meeting people from different cultures. My major influence is African but I draw on a variety of cultures. My personal world has changed as a result of costuming. After my arrival in the United Kingdom, I became a spectator of carnival in Notting Hill. I have been involved in this event since last year. I envision my future as a combination of carnival and theatre costume design and teaching. I would love to assist communities to develop their own carnivals.
Specific Skills: carnival arts, masks, millinery, textile design, silk painting.
