Kate Revill - Costume Designer & Illustrator
Costume Design for me is about visually expressing and exploring a character, to enable an audience to understand and connect with the character on stage. Research and exploration are integral concepts to my design process along with close collaboration with the director and actors; I enjoy the team work greatly. It’s also an integral part to the things I love to do in my spear time; going to the cinema, theatre, seeing dance production, reading a book and visualising a character.
I have strong roots in illustration and I am a very visual person. I take pleasure from problem solve, and believe that realizing designs can be created through other means besides conventional sewing and on any budget. I’m interested in furthering my career within film and television, but still being loyal to theatre, I’m also interested in travelling as part of my work. My real passion is for period costume, but the designs shown here show the variety of my work from period Shakespearian costume to contemporary dance.
